AAU and Bear Lake
So this past week I've been up at my amazing cabin up in Bear Lake. The weather was fabulous, and it was so much fun. I got to be with my sister Allison, Natalie and her husband and their little boy, a few of my aunts and uncles, and a couple of cousins, and my grandpa. Normally we have way more people come, but so many people have been out of town or couldn't get work off. My parents at least got to come up for a day, so that was neat. We frolicked in the water for a bit, played Cranium, ate raspberry shakes, and layed out in the sun. It was wonderful.
So the day after I get back from Bear Lake, I headed to San Francisco for a short 24 hour trip in order to tour my future school for this coming year, the Academy of Art University. I couldn't believe how many buildings they have in downtown San Francisco, over thirty three. You would see one of their giant signs the moment you would turn onto another street. It was a neat experience. We walked pretty much everywhere, which isn't bad at all, steered clear of the Tenderloin district, and checked out Chinatown. On the tour we saw many of the facilities of the school, a couple of dorms, as well as the buildings for 3D animation, 2D animation, and illustration. I'm interested in all three of those fields, and they're all pretty related--so we'll see how it goes as my education progresses.
Needless to say, I'm rather excited. My dad and my mom obviously went with me, and they were both impressed with the school. My dad especially was, he exclaimed to me that he wished he had some artistic talent so he could go to this school. I told him that was because he had to spend so much time messing around with cadavers.
I love that city, and I can't wait to head out there in August!
(oh, and if you would notice the new picture I have as my banner for this blog: some original artwork by myself.)
